Richard D. Baskin, KYGCH
Grand High Priest, Royal Arch Masons of California
Most Excellent Companion Richard D. Baskin was born in Corpus Christy, Texas in 1953 and lived in various parts of southern and central Texas until settling in Austin. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1972, where he served for 18 years as a Fire Control Technician. After selection to the Command Master Chief Program he served three tours as a Command Master Chief in both the surface and air communities; retiring after 28 years of service. After completing his military service he joined government service and worked in various capacities. He recently retired as the Industrial Quality Assurance Department Head for Fleet Readiness Center Southwest. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Liberal Studies and a Masters of Science Degree in Human Resource Management. He, and his wife Barb, reside in Chula Vista, California.
Our Grand High Priest was raised in Chula Vista Lodge No. 626 in 2001, where he served as Master in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and received the Hiram Award. He has also served the Grand Lodge is numerous capacities to include the Masonic Formation Task Force, Grand Lodge Youth Orders Committee, Public Schools Advisory Council and Inspector.
He joined San Diego Scottish Rite in 2001. He was Invested Knight Commander of the Court of Honour (KCCH) in 2007, served as Wise Master of the Chapter of Rose Croix in 2010, Coroneted Inspector General Honorary of the 33° in 2013, and is currently the Venerable Master of the Lodge of Perfection.
In 2004, Rick joined San Diego Chapter 61 Royal Arch Masons and served as High Priest of his Chapter in 2007. He has served the Grand Chapter as an Education Committeeman, Scholarship Chairman, Grand Marshall South in 2008 – 2009, Inspector for District 27 and Deputy Grand Lecture for Department 5. He received the Knight York Cross of Honor (KYCH) in 2013.
Rick has also served the following:
• Cryptic Masons, San Diego Council 23, as Illustrious Master in 2008
• Allied Masonic Degrees, Inkopah Council 86, as Sovereign Master in 2009
• York Rite College No.148, as Governor in 2011
• Knight Masons Council 56, as Chief in 2011
• Knights Templar, Commandery 25, as Commander in 2012
He is also a member of the Red Cross of Constantine, San Diego Priory No. 79 Knights of the York Cross of Honour, Masonic Societas Rosicrucianna, National Sojourner Chapter No. 45, Heroes of 76 and Al Bahr Shrine.
