Michael T. Sherman

With an Army Captain as a father and a Nurse for a mother, life for Michael T. Sherman meant moving quite a bit while growing up. Being the third born of four siblings also meant juggling time and attention. Starting life at Fort Carson in the Colorado Springs area of Colorado, the family moved to different duty stations worldwide, eventually ending up in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.

Before moving to Wisconsin, the family spent a number of years in San Luis Obispo, CA, where Mike learned how to swim and surf by hitchhiking his way to Avila Beach. This would later serve him well in the service.

After joining the Navy, Mike became part of the Sea and Pilot Rescue operations due to his prowess as a swimmer. He then found himself aboard patrol boats and helicopters, diving into the ocean to complete rescue missions. In their downtime, you might have seen him water skiing behind the back of a PT boat.

After the service, Mike found himself in San Diego and decided to stay. His time in the service opened the door to what was the National Steel Shipyard in those days. He later started and ran his own construction company until he eventually found himself at SDG&E, where he worked in a Project Manager role until the time of his retirement.

In 2001, while sitting in a barber shop, Mike had the fortunate occasion to talk with Brother Bill Allen (PGHP), who opened his eyes to the world of Masonry, and he hasn’t looked back. His Masonic journey has led to the best adventure in his life. One which he happily continues today.

After being raised to Master Mason in February 2022, Mike went through the line and became Worshipful Master of Consuelo Lodge 325 in January 2008. He has served that Lodge as Master twice. He continued to support the Lodge by becoming President of the Masonic Hall Association and also serving as Hall Treasurer and Secretary.
