Biography

Mark Rand Sandstrom
Mark Rand Sandstrom was born on December 31, 1954 in Glendale, California.  He grew up in Hemet, and has spent most of his life in Southern California. He currently lives in Glendora with his wife of 32 years, Pamela. They have one son, Erik who is 14 years old.
Mark received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Ministry from Northwestern Christian College in Oregon, and his Master of Divinity Degree from the School of Theology in Claremont, California. He served the First Christian Church as Associate Pastor for three years, and has served the Covina Christian Church as Pastor for the past 20 years.
 He has served his community on various boards, Association of Retarded Citizens of San Gabriel Valley; Center for Independent Living, the Fair Housing Council of Los Angeles, and Cub Master for Cub Scout Pack 463.
His hobbies include: motorcycle riding; outdoor activities and off-roading. At the age of 49 he took up the sport of Powerlifting, and has three first place medals.
On May 25, 1980 Mark was raised in Hemet Lodge No. 615. He affiliated with Covina Lodge No. 334 in 1992 and served as Master in 1995. He received the Hiram Award in 1998. He is currently the Grand Lodge Inspector for District 761.
Mark is a proud member of the Order of DeMolay. He served as Master Counselor of Centennial Chapter in Hemet, California; recipient of the Chevalier Degree, and Active DeMolay Legion of Honor.
He served as High Priest of Azusa Chapter No. 80 in 1997; Illustrious Master of Foothill Council No. 42 in 2000 and Commander of Foothill Commandery No. 63 in 2001. He was inducted into Los Angeles Priory No. 27 Knights of the York Cross of Honour on February 8, 2003. In 2009 he was elevated to a Knight York Grand Cross of Honour. He has served the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons as Grand Chaplain for three years; Grand Orator one year and several years on the ritual committee as Inspector, and then as Deputy Grand Lecturer.
He is a member of the Pasadena Scottish Rite Bodies; Al Malaikah Shrine, Royal Order of Scotland, Robert the Bruce Association, Southern California York Rite College No. 110, Allied Masonic Degrees, Inland Empire Conclave Red Cross of Constantine and Saint John the Baptist Tabernacle No. LXVI Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests.
He is a member of several Masonic Research and educational groups: The Philalethes Society; Brotherhood of the Blue Forget-Me-Not; Southern California Research Society, and is a founding member of the Masonic Society.
Mark has served on two Grand Lodge Committees and was appointed as Grand Chaplain for the Grand Lodge for 2005-06 under Most Worshipful Fred L. Sorsabal.
On April 27, 2009 in the City of Bakersfield, CA, Mark R. Sandstrom was installed as the 149th Most Illustrious Grand Master of the Most Illustrious Grand Council of Cryptic Masons of the State of California.
